BIOGRAPHY

Night Crickets

Night Crickets is a unique collaborative project that brings together three legendary figures from the alternative rock scene: David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets), Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes), and multi-instrumentalist/composer Darwin Meiners. Formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Night Crickets merges avant-garde, post-punk, and alternative rock to create a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.

Their music reflects the eclectic influences of each member:

David J’s goth and post-punk legacy with Bauhaus.
DeLorenzo’s punk-folk sensibilities from Violent Femmes.
Meiners’ experimental and indie rock background.
Together, they craft intricate narratives and sonic textures that capture introspection, anxiety, and beauty — themes that resonate strongly in a post-pandemic world.

A Free Society
Night Crickets' debut album, A Free Society (2022), earned critical acclaim for its haunting melodies, introspective lyrics, and innovative production. Exploring themes of freedom, survival, and the human condition, the album strikes a delicate balance between melancholy and optimism. This collaboration by three seasoned musicians feels timeless yet forward-thinking, appealing to long-time fans and new listeners alike.

Night Crickets continue to evolve and redefine alternative music, offering a unique sound that pays homage to the underground rock movement of the 80s and 90s while reimagining it for today.
