Screaming Bloody Marys
Founded in late 1988 during the grunge era, Screaming Bloody Marys (SBM) have played up and down the West Coast, sharing bills with Dwarves, The Supersuckers, L7, Soundgarden, and more. Their first 7″ single “Bloody Bath” came out on Die Laughing Records in 1989 and was re-released in 1991 on Sympathy for The Record Industry. SBM spent the next several years touring with bands like The Didgits, The Gargoyles, Raw Power, Dwarves, MDC, Lagwagon, The Vibrators, UK Subs, English Dogs, Flesheaters, The Lazy Cowgirls, and Johnny Thunders.
From 1992 to 1994, SBM released several singles on Punk Rock Records, I-94 Records, Industrial Strength Records, Wallabies Records (Japan), Smut Pedlurz Disks, and Frisbee Records, including a split with The Vibrators.
In 1995, Screaming Bloody Marys were signed to Dr. Dream Records / Mercury Records Group by Maurices (Manic Hispanic) and Steve Soto (Adolescents). Their debut full-length Get In, Get Off, Get Out charted at The Virgin Mega in San Francisco and New York for five weeks. Following the release, the band toured with Raw Power, The Members, The Vibrators, Teengenerate, and Guitar Wolf. In 1997, while working on the follow-up record, the band imploded and broke up.
In 2015, at the request of Dick Manitoba, SBM performed at The Dictators reunion along with D.O.A. at Slim's in San Francisco. The show was a success, rekindling the band’s passion for live performance.
