POSTCARDS FROM THE AFTERLIFE - New Album
David J
David J is an English alternative rock musician, producer, writer, and artist based in Los Angeles. A founding member and bassist for post-punk pioneers Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, J has enjoyed an extensive career including a dozen solo albums, theatrical works, and his 2014 memoir, ‘Who Killed Mister Moonlight?’.
His new album, ‘Postcards From The Afterlife’, releases 27th November via Label 51 Recordings. A musically diverse 14-song set featuring a revolving cast of collaborators, J describes the album as exploring “the poignant persistence of connection, be it in life or in death.”
The album blends deeply personal reflections on relationships, homage to late friends like Pat Fish (The Jazz Butcher), political commentary, and orchestral arrangements recorded with members of the Prague Symphony. The album artwork, a painting by Stefan Prince, depicts J and his partner in a moonlit graveyard with a psychopomp owl guiding the way between life and the hereafter.
